I didn’t know how to live with or without drugs.

I decided to seek help when I could not manage the thoughts in my head anymore: I didn’t know how to live with or without drugs. Seeking help doesn’t come easy too. I was concerned that I couldn't possibly get help for my addiction problem without facing some form of criminal punishment. I was also convinced with me being a transexual person, I would be discriminated against if I ever get incarcerated. So after my detox at the National Addiction Management Service (NAMS), I was recommended by my friends at WeCare to continue my recovery at The Greenhouse. My friends at The Greenhouse had given me opportunities to talk about my problems and made me feel supported and understood - something not always present in my community.

Through the people and programmes at The Greenhouse, I had equipped myself with tools I needed to navigate in both good and bad days in my life. Gradually, I learnt to be more accountable and gained the confidence to start life afresh. I was no longer scared, lonely and weary.

The evidence is tangible. I see people recover here at The Greenhouse and it is giving me the strength and hope to recover too.
