Uniting a Family: David

When David first came to The Greenhouse in 2019, he was coping with the loss of his best friend and other adverse childhood experiences. He had overdosed twice and been incarcerated for drug use. With the support of our counsellors and recovery group meetings, he began to heal—learning to understand the reasons behind his use and finding healthier ways to cope.
Four years ago, he joined our therapeutic horticulture programme, where he discovered a love for plants and gardening. Now, he coordinates our complementary therapies programme, and studies counselling at a local university.
Today, David is also serving others. Not only is he a trained peer supporter at The Greenhouse, he has just started his first job at a community organisation serving Singapore's low-income families.
David’s mother leads our Caregivers Support Programme, while his sister is involved in our Research Internship Programme.
