MH370 — THE GREENHOUSE

The Greenhouse will always hold a special place in my heart. The reason why this holds true till date is because The Greenhouse is the birthplace of my brand-new life. Yes, I was reborn in The Greenhouse and I can totally get used to this brand-new lease of life. Gone are the days filled with incessant worries of very trivial things such as running out of substances, or getting busted by authorities.

  I did not stumble into The Greenhouse full of strength and hope. In fact, I almost did not make it to The Greenhouse at all. The journey to recovery started when I signed up for Lifeline, which was recommended to me by my social worker. Lifeline is an introductory course to recovery from addiction by gay men for gay men. However, two days before the commencement of Lifeline, I remembered I was still stuck in Malaysia suffering from severe psychosis from two weeks of binge-using. I reached out to the organiser of Lifeline and after moving mountains, I made my way to The Greenhouse for its first session.

My concerns about seeking help was the issue of confidentiality and the fear of being picked up by law enforcement agencies. However, these concerns were quickly addressed with the ground rules laid out and abided to by all members present.

My experience at The Greenhouse has been amazing. I felt comfortable sharing my thoughts and emotions freely without much hesitation and I found myself hanging out at The Greenhouse several times a week.

Life has been great since I gained a substantial amount of clean time after seeking help at The Greenhouse. Now, I find myself being able to live life as a normal human being and be a productive member of society. The Greenhouse has given me a new lease of life and the confidence I never had as a gay person. I am surrounded by very encouraging gay individuals who rally all the support I need to do anything in life. Yes, seriously! My life without The Greenhouse would be unimaginable. Probably I would end up in jail, institutions or die a slow, sad & painful death.

I would definitely recommend The Greenhouse to anyone who feels that they need help with their addiction issues. Because if there is any one place that can make the difference, The Greenhouse would be your best bet!
