‘I was anxious that I would be judged.’

That was what kept me worried about seeking help at the Greenhouse when I was at the end of my rope. But I remember reading about the eventuality of most drug users, even the recreational ones: you either end up overdosing or in jail. I knew I wanted neither of that. That was when I decided to seek help at the Greenhouse.

With time, the warmth and sincerity of the group helped me to be at ease. The fact that there was a LGBT group at the Greenhouse helped as well.  The Greenhouse had provided me with a safe space to recover. Listening to the stories of different people had enabled me to understand what recovery was and to chart my own journey. I am thankful that a newcomer like me is accepted unconditionally.

What would have happened if I had not gone to the Greenhouse? I would most probably still be chasing the next high or moving from one session to another, and feeling the vicious cycle of guilt, hopelessness and fear. The Greenhouse’s members have demonstrated that recovery is not only possible and sustainable, it is also easier when judgement is taken out of the whole equation.

I highly recommend The Greenhouse to anyone who is seeking a new chapter of life or anyone who is not sure if recovery is possible at all.

We look forward to welcoming You in your first step.
